From here in Melbourne it was a partial eclipse only, but still with a good 52 per cent of the Sun’s diameter covered by the Moon at 8.06am. How did you? Did you watch this beautiful and ephemere union of the Sun and the Moon yesterday morning??? Well I did, there was no way I could miss out! I actually never saw a solar eclipse before or maybe I have never made the effort to watch one. Plus I was lucky enough to have this spectacle happen right in front on my window! So I had a bit of fun playing with the ring holes of my notebook projecting multiple images of a crescent Sun!! It was like the Sun and the Moon swapping roles for a short while, making those projections looking like the beyoutiful yoga logo… or is it the other way around ;-)

The photo below is the total solar eclipse observed at Palm Cove in Australia North Queensland, forming a beautiful “Diamond Ring” effect. This was the region’s first total solar eclipse in 1,300 years, according to SPACE.com!! Isn’t it spectacularly superbly amazing!?! (I thought these words wouldn’t be indifferent to my spellcheck but surprisingly enough they ARE…)

For us yogi(ni)s, what do this solar eclipse & new moon event symbolize?

“A solar eclipse is a reminder that even in the darkest of life’s challenges, you are always at the threshold of new insight. Wisdom or guidance that has felt hidden is actually close to the surface. When you feel lost or in a funk, look for inner clarity about who you are and what next steps to take.” Www.soulseeds.com

In Yogic terms, this is called Svadyaya or Self-Study. So do your own practice, inquire, tune into what you need and invite that energy into your life. Your are walking along your own path, one step at a time… :-)
