Yoga at Work

Yoga at Work

Busy work schedules. Sitting for long periods. Demanding jobs. The fast pace of modern living does have a high impact on our physical, emotional and mental health. Through either one or a combination of physical movements (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation and meditation practices (dhyana), yoga helps individuals find a sense of steadiness (sthira) and ease (sukham) in their work environment. It makes them feel alive in their role and in their life, and better equipped to face difficulties. Yoga helps regain a sense of achievement, while relieving stress and improving overall health and wellbeing.

  • I felt so relaxed after the relaxation sessions with Alex! I wish I could end every day like this. Thank you!

    - Melissa, NAB

  • I very much enjoyed our lunchtime Yoga with Alex. I would then return to my desk feeling more centered.

    - Maya, Victorian Ombudsman

  •  Alex’s corporate classes are a wonderful way to end the day.
She provides great instructions and creates a peaceful environment for my colleagues and I.

Why corporate yoga?

When we are sedentary for a long time, everything slows, including brain function! Moving muscles pump fresh blood and oxygen through the brain and trigger the release of all sorts of brain- and mood-enhancing chemicals.

Yoga teaches mindfulness. Over the last few years, large number of studies have confirmed that the practice of mindfulness leads to enhanced performance, an improved sense of well-being, reduced stress and burnout, and increased ability to remain calm in difficult work situations.

Yoga and business are inextricably linked. At its heart yoga preaches the virtues of accountability, focus, stillness of mind, calmness, dedication — all practices espoused by and even necessary for business success in an era of corporate social responsibility. Yoga is becoming increasingly popular in the workplace. Many companies now recognise the value of offering yoga classes to their employees as part of their stress reduction and wellness programs.
