India is a BIG country and you’d need at least an entire year to explore it all! In 1 month, I went to 3 states down South: Kerala, Karnataka & Tamil Nadu. You can view the detailed map here. About 2,300 km travelled a little by train but mostly by bus and car. Roads in India are notoriously hazardous. They are bumpy, the traffic is extremely dense and the air so polluted. Let alone they are shared by all type of vehicles (cars, bicycles, autorickshaws or tuk-tuks, buses, scouters…) and all kind of sentient beings (people, wild dogs, goats, cows…), the list goes on! Non-stop beeping seems to rule this somehow organised chaos and saying that Indians LOVE their horns is an understatement! Needless to say, you don’t get to rest much on a road trip in India and overnight journeys are no exception…

TIP #1: If you ever plan to go to India and travel around, take the train! But be aware that all trains get booked out 3 to 4 weeks in advance.
