It would have been hard to tell this morning, but at 7.26am, the moon was fully lit in the Melbourne sky! Who would have thought the clouds and the rain would clear out by now, just in time for us to be able to enjoy the “beyoutiFULL” moon radiating in the night sky?! When the moon is full, in yoga, we are invited to take a more gentle and restorative approach to our practice in order to counterbalance the high energy charge in the atmosphere. Slow down, simplify, observe, contemplate at that time of the month. Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs, the full moon is a wonderful opportunity to create a ritual. By tuning into the rhythms of nature, by tuning into the lunar cycle, we appreciate our connection to all things, we are less likely to separate ourselves and take for granted the natural elements and processes of the world. As we establish a sense of Union, a sense of Oneness, we gain insight and inspiration into the essence of life. A ritual can simply be spending time outdoor and contemplating the moon. Soon after you’ll be naturally drawn to withdraw a little more and meditate on the moon. If you live in the south side of Melbourne, go for a walk by the beach tonight to watch the sunset over the ocean, and make sure you turn back to see the moon rise up high in the sky. Whatever ritual you choose, enJOY your connection to our beyoutiFULL moon tonight! :-)
